Most packaging prepress is managed for high-speed long runs with a major packaging converter, and time and money prohibit breaking in ahead of the scheduled production run to print sample packages. What often happens is that companies use a small printer for their marketing samples, later to find the marketing people scratching their heads when the samples don’t look anything like the final printed production packages. Because the files were color separated by two different companies, one a gravure-packaging printer and the other a quick-print offset printer, it should be no surprise when the results are different.
